Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization at Robinson College Encourages Student Leadership and Innovation

In four years since its inception, the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) at Georgia State’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business has become an indelible fixture for encouraging student entrepreneurship at the college.

Established by Chevon Hines, BA ‘12, CEO has spent the last four years crossing lines at GSU, inviting students from any major to learn about building business. By providing a space for students to meet and share ideas, CEO encourages students from any discipline to become involved in entrepreneurship. One way the club is able to do this is by bringing business leaders to campus and planning a wide range of events. In September, Grammy Award-winning producer and hip-hop artist Jermaine Dupri spoke alongside COO of After School, Cory Levy in a Fireside Chat. Other activities sponsored by CEO that week involved networking events and discussions for student business leaders.

Sean Taylor is the current president of CEO and a Computer Information System student. According to Taylor, CEO has provided new opportunities for students to learn and gain experience together in a safe environment. He believes that the city of Atlanta and GSU will be leaders in business development.

The latest event offering from CEO will be the first annual “CEO Hacks” at the end of October. With the idea of ‘hacking the school’, the 24-hour event will involve students competing against each other to create hacks that can improve college life. Whether within the classroom, student entertainment or problems online, students will have the opportunity to develop innovative ideas that can in turn help their community and school.

According to President Sean Taylor, “GSU should be the center and voice for entrepreneurship in Atlanta. GSU has a unique angle with our makeup of students and culture. We can merge business with tech, nursing, the arts and more. GSU is representative of Atlanta as a whole.”
