The Robert Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity at the Zicklin School of Business will host the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development- Impacts on Companies and their Stakeholders. The event will be hosted in partnership with the The Sustainability Practice Network and will feature a panel discussion that will focus on the newly created Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The SDG were developed after the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) that were established from 2000 to 2015. These goals helped with the development of companies, nations and municipalities. The MDG addressed issues such as poverty, gender equality, education and environmental sustainability.
The new SDG will set the stage for the world’s development over the next 15 years. The SDG aims to create sustainable development around the world. The SDG feature 17 goals and 169 specific targets. They also focus on the HDG’s goals of addressing poverty, hunger, education, gender equality, child mortality, HIV-AIDS, Environmental sustainability, global partnership and maternal health. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development panel discussion will confront the issues surrounding the SDG and how it will affect the global business community.
The discussion will be moderated by Ariel Meyerstein, vice president of Labor Affairs, Corporate Responsibility and Governance for the US Council for International Business. Panelist will include, Chris Walker, director of North America for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Tara Nathan, executive director of International Development at MasterCard, Gavin Power, Deputy Executive Director of the UN Global Compact, Catalina Garcia Gomez, Director of Sustainable Development and Communications at SABMiller Latin America and Alyson Cafferky Genovese, Head of Corporate Stakeholder Relations for the United States and Canada at the Global Reporting Initiative.
