Business Athlete Panel Set to Speak During Smith School Business Summit
According to a press release on the school website, The Robert H. Smith School of Business’s Center for Leadership, Innovation, and Change is sponsoring a panel on the “Business Athletes” leadership model at the Smith School Business Summit on Nov. 13. Students and alumni are invited to RSVP for the event.
The all-women panel will feature Smith Senior Associate Dean Joyce Russell and an assortment of business leaders explaining how great athletes are sometime analogous with great business leaders.
Among the other leaders speaking at the panel are:
Cathy Reese, Head Coach of UMD’s Women’s Lacrosse team
Reese is one of the most decorated coaches in at the collegiate level and has been named ACC Coach of the Year five times.
Donna Meacham Blackman, Senior Vice President Finance and Financial Planning and Analysis at BET.
Blackman is a 2010 graduate of Smith’s executive MBA program. Prior to joining BET, she held various senior-level positions at Marriott International.
Halina Caravello, VP of environmental, health, and safety at Tyco International
As a member of the executive leadership team, she leads Tyco toward its vision of “Zero Harm to People and the Environment.”
This panel comes as part of the Fourth Annual Smith School Business Summit at the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor at Camden Yards. The theme of this year’s event is “Workplace 2025: Emerging trends that will redefine modern business in the next decade.”
