Cranfield, Imperial Alumni Win at Business Competitions
Alumni of Cranfield School of Management and Imperial College Business School won prizes in two recent business competitions.
At the National Business Awards, two companies founded by alumni of Cranfield’s Business Growth Programme were honored, according to a press release from the school.
Tristram and Rebecca Mayhew’s outdoor adventure company Go Ape won The Customer Focus Award. Also, Sam Conniff and Michelle Morgan won The Social Enterprise of the Year Award for Livity, the youth marketing agency they founded.
“We are very proud to see our alumni recognized at these prestigious awards,” said Dr. Veronica Burke, director of the Business Growth Programme. “We see how hard the individuals who come on the BGP work and the contribution they make to business and society, so it is only right that their achievements are celebrated.”
Meanwhile, a team including a recent MSc recipient from Imperial’s International Health Management program won a $100,000 investment at the Wolves Summit conference in Warsaw, according to a press release from Imperial.
Imperial alumnus Tim Tang was part of the team for Toothscan, a consumer device that will let people check their teeth for problems. Toothscan beat out 250 other startups to take the prize.
Tang helped create the Toothscan business plan and pitch, Imperial said in its press release.
“My experience at Imperial gave me the skills and confidence to enter this competition – something I would never have dreamed of doing a year ago,” Tang said in the press release. “I also learned a lot from the evening lectures by guest speakers and from the incredible startup community within the College.
