The C.T. Bauer College of Business recently took part in the 2015 Conference and Career Fair for the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA), a three-day event offering panel discussions, speakers and networking opportunities.

This year’s event was held in Houston and involved recognition of Bauer’s NAWMBA student chapter as Student Chapter of the Year. The chapter was honored as a result of increased membership from the previous year, dedication to community outreach, and newly established partnerships with local organizations.

MBA candidate and NAWMBA chapter president Lola Soyebo Harris expressed her honor at receiving the award, commenting that the the chapter’s leaders will continue to strive for excellence.

Bauer additionally served as a co-lead academic sponsor for the conference, with the opening ceremony emceed by the college’s Assistant Dean of the Rockwell Career Center, Jamie Belinne. Further recognition for Bauer came in the form of NAWMBA’s “Shero” Award, presented to a woman for exemplifying excellence within her workplace and community. This year’s award went to Lisa Jammer, senior director of graduate and alumni career services as well as conference chair.

“Women still face a number of professional challenges ranging from lack of representation in corporate board positions to pay disparity. NAWMBA creates an avenue for discussions on these challenges while creating opportunities for networking, mentoring and career opportunities,” said Jammer, who was also recently elected to the National Board of Directors for a three-year term. “I was proud to watch many of my Bauer students connect with employers and interview for global job opportunities.”
