Latino Entrepreneurship Group to Host Fireside Chat Exploring Leadership Opportunities
On Wednesday, November 11, 2015, Stanford Graduate School of Business’ Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative (SLEI) will host a fireside chat open to students, executives, faculty and the general public.
The SLEI is a collaboration between the non-profit Latino Business Action Network and Stanford University. This month’s discussion will focus on data that has been gathered through a survey of 2000 panelists who are members of the Latino business community.
The SLEI created a database to collect information from these business leaders. The database also stores and organizes information on over 1.3 million US Latino owned companies. Described on SLEI’s website as “the largest and most comprehensive data set of its kind”, the project has as its goal to stimulate informed policymaking, to strengthen business partnerships, and to promote skill and knowledge development. The goal of SLEI is to have a record of 100% of Latino owned companies in the country.
Among speakers at the fireside chat will be Stanford Dean Garth Saloner, University President John Hennessy, Professor Emeritus of Organizational Behavior Jerry I. Porras, Sol Trujillo, a media, telecom, and cable-industry executive, and Rupert Murdoch, Chairman of 21st Century Fox.
The SLEI offers the Stanford Latino Entrepreneur Leaders Program, an online education program available to candidates across the country. The program was created by Stanford professors and provides program members with skills, mentorship, and access to resources which will allow them to succeed in the growth of their businesses.
