Calling all leaders. Sponsored by the University of San Diego School of Business Administration (SBA) and the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES), General Stanley McChrystal will be speaking at USD on Friday, November 20. The event includes a continental breakfast and a copy of McChyrstal’s book: Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World.
Retired U.S. Army General, McChrystal took over the Joint Special Operations Task Force to fight Al Qaeda in Iraq in 2004. He quickly realized that traditional military tactics were unsuccessful, and took it upon himself to reimagine the task force as a “team of teams.” At the event, he’ll speak about how Al Qaeda was able to move quickly and strike ruthlessly while quickly vanishing because they were a decentralized network. That’s why McChrystal was forced to reimagine his task force to make it faster, flatter, and more flexible.
Now retired and an author of Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World, McChrystal will speak about how the challenges he faced with the task force can be applied to any business, nonprofit, and organization today. He’ll go into the details of his book, which provides a strategy that has and can work anywhere, including in hospital emergency rooms and even at NASA. His knowledge has the potential to transform your organization large or small. This world-class event will take place from 7:30 am to 8:45 am and costs $20. You can register online now.
