Rutgers Business School, Newark and New Brunswick honored six business people who exemplify the spirit of entrepreneurship at a recent awards ceremony.
The Business School’s Center for Urban and Entrepreneurship and Economic Development presented the honors as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The awards, now in their second year, “celebrate as well as encourage innovative, risk-taking self-starters who create new businesses and jobs,” according to a press release from the school.
The honorees were:
- Emily Tantuccio, Student Entrepreneur Award. Tantuccio runs her own photography and publicity business, in addition to interning at MTV.
- Alex Zaltsman, Alumni Entrepreneur Award. Zaltsman is the founder and CEO of InnoviMobile.
- Thomas Malave, Rutgers Impact Award. Malave is principal and president of Bartlett Dairy.
- Susan Devaney, Ellis Still EPI Alumni Award. Devaney is founder and CEO of The Mavins Group and a past participant in CUEED’s Entrepreneurship Pioneers Initiative.
- Maria Del Mar Lopez and Maria Yglesias, New Jersey Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Del Mar Lopez and Yglesias founded M & M Development.
“Rutgers Business School is very proud to be part of this celebration, and we congratulate all of the award winners for your drive and your achievement,” Dean Lei Lei said at the event
Also during the awards ceremony, business people who completed a recent Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship Program at Rutgers received certificates.
Rutgers’ Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Development aims to create “renewed economic growth and vitality through urban entrepreneurship,” according to the school.
