Graduates of the Master of Business Administration in Accounting (MBA-A) program at Tobin College of Business-St. John’s University will now qualify for one year of work experience toward the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation, according to a press release from Tobin.
ISACA found the program to be in alignment with its Model Curriculum for IS Audit and Control, 3rd Edition. Tobin’s Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) was also found to be in alignment.
In both programs, students can opt for a concentration in Information Systems: Audit and Control, which requires them to complete the courses Accounting Information: Governance and Audit, Accounting Information: Systems Development and Operations and Accounting Information: Protection of Assets.
According to the Tobin press release, ISACA is a global nonprofit that “engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted, industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems.”
Tobin’s Accounting MBA gives students the “technical competence that permits entry into the profession of public accountancy or to enter corporate management in the accounting area,” while still helping them obtain a deeper understanding of business and management as a whole. Students in the program obtain 33 credit hours in accounting and 36 in general business. Applicants who did not major in accounting as undergraduates may be required to take pre-requisites before beginning their coursework.
Accounting is just one of the specialized MBAs offered at Tobin. Students can also focus their MBA studies on business analytics, computer information systems for managers, controllership, enterprise risk management, executive management, finance, international business, marketing management, public accounting, risk management and taxation.
