UIC School of Business IDS Seminar Series With Matthew Taddy

On Friday, December 4 from 1:45PM – 3:45PM, Matthew Taddy, an associate professor of Econometrics and Statistics at Chicago Booth, will speak at the UIC School of Business. Taddy’s appearance comes as part of the school’s Information and Decision Sciences (IDS) Seminar Series, where each week, IDS faculty from across the nation bring their latest research to faculty, staff and students.

According to his bio on the Booth website, Taddy’s research is directed at methodology in statistics, econometrics and machine learning, as well as applications in business, social science and engineering. He works on building robust solutions for large-scale data analysis problems and on quantifying uncertainty about the output of these algorithms.

Taddy has collaborated NASA Ames, Lawrence Livermore, Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories and is a research fellow at eBay. He also created and teaches the Booth Big Data course. He earned his PhD in Applied Math and Statistics in 2008 from the University of California, Santa Cruz, as well as a BA in Philosophy and Mathematics and an MSc in Mathematical Statistics from McGill University. He has been working at Chicago Booth since 2008.

UIC’s Department of IDS offers programs and research that emphasizes information systems, operations and supply chain management, and business/data analytics. With new and regularly updated material, IDS courses reflect technology advancements and changing business needs, to address current areas where there is strong market demand for well-trained business professionals.
