The Rady School of Management at UC San Diego introduced a new Master of Science in Business Analytics program, now enrolling for Fall 2016. The MSBA degree program will offer hands-on training to prepare students to use data and analytics to identify business opportunities, generate business insights, and create business solutions.

This unique program offered by the Rady School is the first in the University of California system and one of the few available in California. The MSBA program is designed to meet the rapidly growing need for skilled professionals and will help students gain both the quantitative and management skills necessary to make better decisions, communicate effectively, and manage teams.

In a press release, Robert S. Sullivan, Dean of Rady School talked about the new MSBA program. “Companies are increasingly data-driven, and there is a vast need for professionals who are able to analyze that data and translate it into meaningful business outcomes,” he said. “The Rady School’s Master of Science in Business Analytics provides students with the unique skill set needed to quickly make a significant impact at companies that rely on data for business solutions.”

The new program is now accepting applications for the Fall 2016 semester. The first deadline occurred on December 1, 2015, with the second deadline on February 1, 2016. The final deadline for all interested candidates is June 1, 2016.

Students interested in the MSBA program should meet the following requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, economics, statistics, engineering, or computer science
  • Five of more years of work experience

Students applying to the program must have a solid foundation in quantitative methods, particularly knowledge of statistical applications such as R, SAS, STATA, and Matlab. Additionally, students should be able to demonstrate programming experience from their school work or their work experience. The fifty-unit degree program can be completed in 12 months.

MSBA students will go on to have fulfilling and rewarding careers in business analytics and will receive career support through the Rady School and Career connections. For more information on the MSBA degree, visit the School website.
