Suffolk University Sawyer Business School has selected two MBA students for its North Campus Leadership Award scholarships.
According to a press release from the school, the $6,000 scholarships are based on merit. They are awarded to new MBA students who are pursuing their degrees at Suffolk’s North Campus in Lawrence, Mass., and who are residents of Lawrence, Haverhill, Mass., or Lowell, Mass.
Recipient Jennifer Battiata is an operations team leader at Putnam Investments and undergraduate alumna of Suffolk. Her goal is to become a certified financial planner.
“I was thrilled to be able to take classes in my hometown,” Battiata said in the school’s press release. “Plus, the class sizes are small, which often leads to engaging discussions.”
The second scholarship recipient, Jonathan Machado, is a commercial loan officer at Enterprise Bank. Machado is also active in his community, serving on the boards of the Greater Lawrence Young Professionals Network and Jericho Road Lawrence. He was nominated for North of Boston Business Magazine’s 40 Under 40 North of Boston Award.
Residents of Lawrence, Haverhill or Lowell who apply by March 15 for fall entry into the Suffolk MBA North Campus program are automatically considered for the North Campus Leadership Award scholarships. Recipients are required to enroll for six-11 credits during the fall and spring semesters.
Suffolk’s North Campus is about 30 miles west of downtown Boston. At the North Campus, students can enter Suffolk’s Full-Time or Part-Time MBA programs. MBA courses are also taught at Suffolk’s main campus in downtown Boston and online.
