Cass Business School Gives Honorary Doctorate to Unruly CEO

Cass Business School of the City University of London recently gave the co-founder of one of the technology industry’s most forward thinking companies an honorary doctoral degree.

Dr. Sarah Wood is the co-founder and CEO of Unruly, an advertising tech company that helps companies to create and spread social video campaigns.

With 15 international offices and a staff of 200, Unruly was founded in 2006 by Dr. Wood and her colleagues Scott Button and Matthew Cooke. The company has created numerous groundbreaking ad campaigns, including Dove’s ‘Real Beauty Sketches’, which is the most widely viewed online video ad of all time; and T-Mobile’s ‘Life’s for Sharing’. Wood also heads City Unrulyversity, a pop-up education forum held at Unruly’s headquarters.

Upon receiving the degree, Dr. Wood said:

“Cass Business School, City University London is a pioneer in marketing research and a valuable partner of London’s thriving tech ecosystem. The pop-up university held in the Unruly clubhouse is a ground-breaking example of academia helping to support the next generation of entrepreneurs, a mission reinforced by the presence of The Hangout incubator within our HQ … t’s been an inspirational and hugely enjoyable experience to partner with the team at City University London. I really hope that our long-standing collaboration continues and can serve as a blueprint for academia and business as we seek to encourage entrepreneurial ambition and equip the next generation with the entrepreneurial mind-set and digital skills required for a post-industrial, rapidly changing economy.”
