DeGroote School Announces New Women’s Professional Network
Women at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business have a new professional networking opportunity. Unveiled in January 2016, the DeGroote Women’s Professional Network is a collective of professionals, faculty, community leaders, McMaster alumni, and students dedicated to the advancement of women in business and society.
The new network offers opportunities for participants to meet and mingle with colleagues, take part in professional development events, connect with mentors and mentees, and contribute to local philanthropic endeavors. It’s open to women of all ages in various career states. The goal is to provide an environment where women can understand each other’s roles and challenges in a beneficial way.
A few of the popular events for the new network include:
- Breakfast Series
- Cocktail Series
- DeGroote Executive Education Series
Each series will include board participation from female leaders across the McMaster and DeGroote School communities.
In a recent press release from the University, Natasha Sharma BCom ’00 talked about the new network. “Nothing promotes change, growth and development quite like a group of ambitious professionals coming together for a shared cause,” said Sharma. “That’s why I’m thrilled about the launch of the DeGroote Women’s Professional Network. Through continuous learning and mentorship, we can empower ourselves with the ability to transform our lives, and the lives of others.”
Lea Mtulovic, an MBA candidate at the DeGroote School and current President of the DeGroote MBA Association, talked about how valuable the new network is for students and young professionals. She explained how it helped her to learn from a variety of speakers while interacting with influential women in the business community. Furthermore, it provided her with an opportunity to meet today’s business leaders and connect with students regarding MBA employment opportunities and more.
