Rohrer College of Business Unveils New Landmark Building

On January 6, 2016, The Rohrer College of Business at Rowan University (RCB) unveiled the steel framework of its new landmark building.

The four-story, 90,500 square foot building will be the headquarters for RCB, and it will enable the school to double its enrollment to 2,000 students.

The building is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2017. It received funding with the help of a $17 million award bestowed to the university by New Jersey’s Building Our Future Bond Act, which was passed in 2012 by the state’s voters. The Bond Act’s passage enabled officials to fund renovation and construction of private and public college buildings, which will benefit the state’s current and future economy.

The building will feature many unique program spaces, such as a “hatchery” which will provide students with a venue for testing entrepreneurial ventures; areas for collaboration between students and business leaders; and the Center for Business Professionalism, which will serve as a place for students to receive job skills training and to interview with potential employers.

Designed by Princeton firm KSS Architects, in association with Goody Clancy Architects of Boston, the building will have 16 classrooms, 7 conference rooms, 70 faculty offices, 15 administrative offices, and 10 specialty areas. Describing the new facility, KSS states, “The Rohrer College of Business, in the context of a new building, seeks to develop the entrepreneurs, business leaders, and innovators of the future by becoming South Jersey’s center for innovative thinking, strategic problem solving, and business acumen.”
