Two San Diego Schools made it into the top 30 best schools for military veterans according to the fourth annual survey by the Military Times. The Best for Vets: Business Schools 2016 rankings looked at graduate business programs that participated in the rigorous Best for Vets: Colleges survey.
The San Diego State University College of Business Administration hit number 20 on the list, an 18-slot increase from last year. SDSU serves more than 3,200 student veterans, active duty, reservists, and dependents each year. The School is also home to the Joan and Art Barron Veteran’s Center, which is a valuable resource for students, as is the Veterans House – the first student-veteran residence of its kind on a college campus.
- 40 military veterans enrolled in an MBA.
- 90% military course completion.
- 78% military retention.
The University of San Diego School of Business Administration ranked #28 on the 2016 list. In 2015, USD was ranked #25. There are multiple programs for veterans within the School of Business including VA Education Benefits, the Yellow Ribbon Program, and the Post-9/11 GI Bill Housing Allowance. USD is also home to the Veteran’s Center, a place where student veterans can connect with their peers.
- 88 military veterans enrolled in an MBA.
- 100% military retention.
- 95% military graduation.
The Best for Vets: Business Schools 2016 survey revealed five key findings:
- About 38% of responding schools had business school leaders with military ties and 46% had military-affiliated leaders at the larger university level.
- Tuition costs at approximately 50% of schools did not exceed the Post-9/11 GI Bill caps.
- About 17% of the graduate school population is veterans.
- Around 65% of universities have a veteran or military group, but only 6% had one at the graduate business school level.
- Approximately 1/3 of schools do not require a GMAT or GRE score for their MBA application.
