Alan Mulally, the former CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes and retired President and CEO of Ford Motor Company, has been appointed a Senior Fellow at Seattle University’s Albers School of Business. His role in the Center for Leadership Formation will have him working with students, faculty, and alumni in the Executive Leadership and Leadership EMBA programs.

Mulally’s position will have a large impact on both programs, which will be introducing into their curriculum key aspects of his signature leadership strategies, including “Working Together” and “Business Process Review.” In a press release from the University, the Albers School said, “We are incredibly privileged to have someone of Alan’s caliber working with us in this capacity.”

In the same press release, Marilyn Gist, the Executive Director of the Center for Leadership Formation, said, “Alan reviewed our curricula and found many commonalities from content and values standpoints, with what we teach.”

Alan’s appointment as a Senior Fellow will not be his first interaction with the Albers School. Last October, as part of the Albers Executive Speaker Series, Alan spoke on campus and followed up with a day-long workshop for alumni, faculty, and senior university leadership.

“I am excited to work with the Albers Center for Leadership Formation because its executive programs align so closely with my values,” Alan said in a press release. “They focus not just on strategy and business tools, but on self-awareness and values of serving others.  Those are so important in building the genuine culture of working together to accomplish important goals.  It’s an honor to work with the Center’s leadership and to serve Seattle University.”

The Albers Center for Leadership Formation, where Alan will be most involved, is known as a center of innovation. It brings together top educators, alumni, and business leaders to help accomplished professionals become influential leaders. It’s a large part of the Leadership EMBA program, which was ranked #12 in the nation by the U.S. News and World Reports 2017 rankings of Top 25 EMBA programs.
