Lehigh University’s College of Business and Economics (CBE) formally launched its new, intensive one-year MBA program on March 1, 2016. Lehigh also offers a Flexible Pacing MBA, which features a hybrid structure of in-class and online learning.
1-MBA will begin in January 2017 and it will be comprised of 50 credits. Designed both for professionals in search of a career shift, and for those who seek accelerate momentum in their current fields, the program will take place on-campus over a full calendar year. Candidates who apply are required to have at least three years of work experience.
One of many advantages to the 1-MBA program is the low cost relative to traditional programs due to the accelerated timeframe. Also, unlike other one year programs, 1-MBA offers students an eight week summer internship opportunity. Candidates will also receive the guidance of a mentorship team comprised of a faculty advisor, a professional career coach, and a Lehigh alumnus.
Despite the shorter duration of the program, there is no sacrifice of rigor or intensity. Georgette Chapman Phillips, dean of the CBE, said, “Our new 1-MBA program is unique because it offers an attractive alternative for those seeking a high-quality rigorous MBA within a one year timeframe. By focusing on higher level topics and real-world lessons directly applicable to the business world…the 1-MBA provides students with an immersive and complete business education for half the cost, and in half the time, as normal.”
1-MBA students will receive a multi-disciplinary education that offers a holistic approach to business. The curriculum will include traditional business theory and skills, but will also encompass the perspectives of various stakeholders in the global economy. Candidates will explore such issues as demographic shifts, the responsible use of big data, and the value of urban renewal.
Tuition will be $63,000 a year. Financial aid and scholarships will be available to accepted students.
