New York, NY (Bloomberg)—Anxious to move on from a scandal involving the school’s recent tumble in the U.S. News rankings, the NYU Stern School of Business unveiled a ranking of its own last Thursday. Professors from the school’s marketing department published a paper in which they ranked the top 25 news periodicals. The Wall Street Journal and the Economist shared first place in the ranking, with the New York Times, Financial Times and Newsweek rounding out the rest of the top 5.
Sitting down at number 24 on the ranking was U.S. News & World Report. While critics cried foul and suggested that the well-known news outlet should clearly have had a top-15 showing, Stern professors pointed out that the periodical had failed to supply them with all the data requested, forcing the faculty to make a few “guestimates.”
