Scheller College Brings Atlanta to South by Southwest
The Georgia Institute of Technology – Scheller College of Business recently helped bring Atlanta to the heart of Austin at South by Southwest (SXSW) 2016.
This year’s SXSW witnessed a “Tech Square Takeover” as Tech Square companies such as Foundry 45 and Converge combined with Scheller College, The University Financing Foundation, Inc., and the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech.
Atlanta’s presence at the conference was thanks to Choose ATL, a movement from the Metro Atlanta Chamber which aims to attract top talent in the metro Atlanta area. Choose ATL used SXSW as an opportunity to demonstrate the superb quality of life and opportunity during the Austin Speakeasy, which took place on March 13-14. The event, nicknamed the ‘ChooseATL House’, included industry announcements, dialogues and the opportunity to be part of a virtual reality experience, which fully immersed participants in the world of Tech Square.
Each year, the conference hosts more than 84,000 attendees. “From game developers and new media professionals to investors and educators, SXSW appeals to all kinds of outside-the-box business innovators who push the cutting edge of technological change,” said Scheller College Dean Maryam Alavi. This is the first time the ChooseATL campaign will move outside of the Atlanta Metro region.
“[The SXSW attendees] are a perfect match for what we have to offer here at Scheller, which by the way is housed in the heart of Atlanta’s tech scene,” said Alavi.
