Seattle Pacific University Recognized For Having Great Value
Seattle Pacific University recently received quite a bit of love from U.S. News & World Report in a series of recent rankings.SPU ranked No. 2 in the category of “Best Colleges – Best Value” in the West U.S. News’s 2016 college rankings. The school also ranked No. 17 in the magazine’s Best Regional University category, which includes institutions from Texas to Alaska that provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s programs, and limited doctoral programs.
According to U.S. News, the organization determines which colleges and universities offer the best value for students by taking both academic quality and cost into account. Only schools ranked in or near the top half of their 2016 Best Colleges ranking categories — National Universities, National Liberal Arts Colleges, Regional Colleges and Regional Universities — were considered for the Best Value Schools lists.
The overall Best Values ranks were determined by first standardizing the scores achieved by every school in each of the three variables listed below and then weighting and summing those scores.
- Ratio of quality to price
- Need-based aid
- Average discount
