The University of San Diego School of Business Administration plays a key role in the San Diego community. Not only does the school have an economic impact, but it also provides high-level talent. Dr. Jaime Alonso, the Director of the USD Business School, recently spoke about the school’s commitment to supporting the business community with Business Conexion.
Dr. Alonso discussed not only USD’s passion for San Diego businesses, but also its focus on promoting the entrepreneurial spirit. You can see this focus represented by the teachers, programs, and methods used by the school. However, according to Dr. Alonso, a business school should not only be relevant to its community but internationally as well. That’s why USD offers double-degree programs as well at the Global Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which has a vision based on five “P”s: people, planet, profit, peace, and prosperity.
Another focus of the school is to create a joint initiative between USD and multinational companies. The goal to help graduates succeed internationally. In fact, USD’s goal is to become a bi-national community that brings new talent to companies that are looking to revitalize themselves. The objective is to offer “value-add” proposals to businesses that can be fulfilled by students, professors, and alumni from USD.
As part of this effort, USD frequently hosts speaker series such as the upcoming Negotiations and Leadership: A Power and Politics Perspective webinar that will be live on Wednesday, August 24th. The webinar will teach participants to use influence to persuade, harness power to accomplish priorities, and communicate clearly in all business settings.
Dr. Jaime Alonso obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Economics and Managerial Science from the Wharton School. He also holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Waterloo. He conducted his post-graduate research work in Quality Management and Engineering and was recognized in 2005 as “Dean of the Year” for his work in international education.
