Mount Saint Mary’s Los Angeles Announces Hybrid MBA
Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles announced a new hybrid online/classroom MBA curriculum on June 28, 2016.
Beginning in the fall semester of 2017, the program will be based near downtown Los Angeles at Mount Saint Mary’s Doheny Campus.
As noted on the program’s website, “It is designed with the understanding that managers face global and cross-disciplinary challenges on a daily basis. These global challenges are not merely studied at the theoretical level.”
One of many unique features of this hybrid program is its “theme-based” curriculum. As opposed to studying on a course-by-course basis, MBA candidates will experience blended learning. Through the intersection of such disciplines as business law, finance and marketing, students will see how real-world scenarios play out.
In the program’s final semester, participants can choose a concentration in one of three areas – social or traditional entrepreneurship, project management, or organizational leadership. With a final project which will apply knowledge in an actual business scenario, candidates will work for a non-profit or private company to offer creative solutions.
Each student will also participate in an international study section in the form of an immersion study trip to China. Over the 15-18 month duration of the program, students also receive access to speaker symposiums and career counseling sessions.
“The hybrid MBA program meets [the] requirements… [of] a dynamic and complex business environment by offering the benefits of a traditional educational setting, leading-edge technology and the widely recognized academic rigor of a Mount Saint Mary’s education,” remarked Mark Alhanati, chair of the school’s business administration department.
The online section of the degree will take place on Canvas, and classroom learning will take place twice a week, every other week.
