Drucker School EMBA Alum, Netflix Executive Tawni Cranz Honored by AACSB

Claremont Graduate University Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management (Drucker School) EMBA alumna Tawni Cranz was recently recognized for her exemplary leadership skills by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

AACSB announced its Class of 2016 Influential Leaders at its Annual Accreditation Conference in Minneapolis on September 19th, 2016.

Cranz, who earned her EMBA from Drucker in 2012, is the sole woman on the leadership team at Netflix. She is the company’s chief talent officer and was the driving force behind the company’s policy to grant employees unlimited time off within the first year of a child’s birth or adoption.

In an announcement of the award, the AACSB said, “Policies such as this put Netflix at the forefront of organizational change as it relates to the productivity of its employees… Cranz has said that Netflix wants its employees to have the flexibility and confidence to balance the needs of their growing families without having to worry about work or finances.”

Cranz joined Netflix in 2007 as a director and rose through the ranks to become vice president of talent in 2011. She assumed her current role in October 2012. Previously, Cranz served as HR director of Bausch & Lomb and in various similar positions at FedEx Kinko’s. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from UC Santa Barbara in 1995.

“Drucker prepared me to work with creative teams… [One of my most valuable lessons there] was that if you want to know the future, invent it.” she said in a recent profile.
