SMU Cox Full-Time MBA Rises in Global Ranking

Full-Time MBA

The Southern Methodist University—Cox School of Business recently rose several points in a ranking of top full-time MBA programs in the world, ranking 66th overall.

The newly released business school rankings from The Economist magazine, entitled “Which MBA?”, named their top 100 full-time MBA programs throughout the globe. SMU Cox was ranked 46th among schools in the U.S., and 66th globally, up sixteen points from its 2015 ranking at 82nd.

SMU Cox was ranked highly in other areas as well, excelling in its place as 6th in the world for the quality of faculty and 20th in the world for student/alumni potential for business networking. Factors which helped determine the ranking included faculty to student ratio, alumni/student satisfaction and the number of faculty members holding Ph.D. degrees.

The Economist publishes a ranking of its top 100 business schools each October. This year, more than 143 schools across the globe participated in the ranking. The surveys, which help determine the ranking, were conducted in the spring of 2016. Such surveys evaluated four main factors for each school or program: personal development, post-graduation salary increase, potential to network and openness to new career opportunities.

Al Niemi, the dean of SMU Cox, commented on the school’s success: “we are proud of the world-class business education we offer all our students. While it’s true that ranking surveys are subjective, the fact that this one gives especially high marks to our faculty and our alumni network reaffirms our efforts to provide students with a well-rounded business school experience that will positively influence the direction of their careers.”
