MBA Scholars Award at Mays Honors 4.0 MBA Graduates

The Texas A&M University – Mays Business School recently honored ten business students with the MBA Scholar Award, a new award intended to honor MBA students who graduate with a 4.0.

The first recipients of the new award were honored with a celebration at CityCentre Houston which was attended by Mays Dean Eli Jones, Arvind Mahajan, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Michael Kinney, Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs, who celebrated alongside the 4.0 graduates from both the 206 Executive and Professional MBA program.

The idea for the award originated with Bala Shetty, who previously served as Interim Associate Dean for Graduate Programs.

Recipients of the award in the Executive MBA Program were Rajee Hari and Santiago Velasquez. Recipients in the Professional MBA Program were: Kenza Bouzaher, Lane Cooper, John Doolin, Brad Burgess, Ashley Gibson, Shelly Fuhrman, Paul Urane and Tyler Stegeman.

Brad Burgess, an MBA Scholar from the Professional MBA Program, commented after the celebration: “The program has done so much for me and opened up many new opportunities. I look forward to helping this program grow and prosper in the future.”

The Professional MBA at Mays is a 22-month program designed for working professionals who aim to expand their knowledge and skill in their current career. The AACSB program offers an applied learning curriculum which requires students to complete 45 hours of coursework on topics such as leadership, analysis, corporate strategy and many more.

The Mays Executive MBA Program is designed to mimic real business patterns, offering students interdisciplinary coursework and personal leadership development while engaging directly with the faculty.
