The University of Georgia – Terry College of Business recently announced a new dual degree program which will give students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering and MBA in just five years.
“We are pleased to add the new engineering and MBA dual degree combination to our innovative educational offerings to provide motivated engineering students with the business skill set that will equip them to excel in today’s workforce,” said Benjamin C. Ayers, dean of Terry College.
The program will be the first and only dual bachelor’s and MBA degree offered in the entire University System of Georgia. Students in the program will spend their first three years focused on bachelor’s degree courses at the College of Engineering, and will continue this coursework while completing statistics and data analytics courses at Terry starting in year four. Between years four and five, students will participate in a business or engineering internship, preparing for a fifth year fully immersed in Terry’s MBA program.
According to Donald J. Leo, dean of the College of Engineering, students also equipped with an MBA will have an important and highly-competitive skill set for leading strategic initiatives in operations, manufacturing and high-tech companies. “We want them to be able to turn their innovations into products that can have an impact on people’s lives,” Leo said.
While other programs in Georgia give students the opportunity to simultaneously earn an MBA’s and specialized master’s, the chance for students to earn both a bachelor’s and MBA in five years is unique to UGA.
