Are you thinking about heading to the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington for your MBA? It’s a good choice. Not only is Foster’s full-time MBA program ranked first overall in the Northwest by the U.S. News and World Report, Bloomberg Businessweek, the Economist and the Financial Times, it’s also ranked in the top 30 nationwide by all the same reports. But, it’s not just rankings that indicate an excellent full-time MBA program; it’s also the student experience.
In September, Foster kicked off its 2016-17 MBA season with a sunset dinner cruise around Lake Washington. The purpose of the cruise was to give the 125 new MBA candidates a chance to connect and mingle before they really got down to work. After the cruise, the MBAs jumped into class with PRIME orientation and JUMPSTART, two programs that helped to get the students ready for coursework.
By the end of the first semester, “members of the Class of 2018 had rolled up their sleeves, jumped right in and made their Foster experience and active, dynamic one,” Molly Forte explained in her MBA blog.
So, who makes up this newest MBA class at Foster? It’s a fairly diverse class with 43 percent women and 39 percent international candidates. As for their experience, on average MBAs in the program have nearly six years of work history and are around 29-years old. But those are just the facts; the truth comes from the actual candidates.
In the blog, five MBA candidates were interviewed about why they chose the Foster school. Below you can find what a few of them had to say.
“Foster’s potential was what attracted me as it has great exposure to well-known companies locally, nationally and globally,” said Min Kim.
“The small size of the program is an amazing opportunity to be a significant part of Foster’s impact on the business world,” explained Dan Gardner. “I’m extremely excited to be a part of that.”
“My major attraction to Foster was the right balance of academic rigor and hands-on opportunities for leadership development,” said Oluyinka Awobiyi. “The rigorous core curriculum coupled with the customizable 2nd year curriculum, provided me an opportunity to hone my technical skills and the option of exploring more than one area of Business for my MBA concentration.”
