Boston may be a well-known hub for education in the U.S., but it’s also a center for global business studies. Global MBA programs are similar to executive MBA model, which usually meet on weekends and cater to students who are mid-career professionals, but focus on conducting business in international settings. A global EMBA targets students with 10 to 15 years of experience and allows students to learn while immersed in other cultures.

MBA students have a number of Boston Global MBA programs and concentrations to choose from. Below is a breakdown of the various offerings you can find in the metro:

Carroll School of Management – Boston College

Located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, just six miles from downtown Boston, the Carroll School of Management is Boston College’s business school. The undergraduate business school was founded in 1938 and the graduate business school followed in 1957.

The Carroll School offers a full-time MBA program as well as a part-time, evening MBA program. In addition, the Carroll School awards Master of Science degrees in accounting and finance and supports two doctoral programs. The Carroll School is fully-accredited in business education by AACSB International.

Carroll offers a concentration in Global Management, which aims to provide students with an internationalized education arming. Coursework in this concentration focuses on international business, such as governance/compliance/reporting issues, law, entrepreneurship and marketing.

One of the classes in the Global Management concentration, International Management Experience, has students travelling to an international destination, where they visit new ventures and established small businesses as well as major local companies and multinational corporations.

D’Amore-McKim School of Business – Northeastern University

The D’Amore-McKim School of Business of Northeastern University was founded in 1922 and began awarding graduate business degrees in 1952. D’Amore-McKim is an AACSB-accredited institution and offers five MBA programs: Full-time, Evening, High Tech, Executive and Online. All MBA programs take place at Northeastern’s 73-acre main campus in the Fenway Cultural District of Boston, Massachusetts.

D’Amore-McKim School of Business full-time MBA features the Global Projects Course, an experiential learning opportunity where students work in teams to tackle a business issue or opportunity for a multinational company in their global office. Through the experience, students develop skills necessary to compete and succeed in the global market.

According to the school, D’Amore-McKim’s Global Projects course begins with initial research and analysis on-campus in early May. Students then travel to the company’s international location for approximately one week to conduct intense work on the consulting project. Students then return to campus to finalize the consulting report for delivery to the client by early-to mid-June.

F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business – Babson College

The F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College is located in the Babson Park area of Wellesley, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. The school offers a traditional full-time MBA program, a one-year program for those with an academic background in business, an evening MBA program for those who are fully employed and a Blended Learning part-time MBA program.

Babson also offers a Global Management concentration; a rigorous program for students who are dedicated to pursuing an internationally oriented education and career. The program features study abroad opportunities and a variety of international business and area studies courses.

Sawyer Business School – Suffolk University

Named after Frank Sawyer, a Suffolk University donor and Boston-area entrepreneur, the Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University is AACSB accredited in business, accounting and taxation. While Suffolk University was established in 1906, the Business School opened in 1937 and began offering the MBA degree in 1948. Suffolk founded its Executive MBA program in 1975 and its Online MBA program in 1999.

Sawyer offers a Global MBA — a specialized MBA degree program offered in both full and part-time varieties. The curriculum combines the MBA core and required courses with upper-level electives in either International Finance or International Marketing and practical international study and work experiences. Students enrolled in the Global MBA can choose a concentration in either International Finance or International Marketing.

Questrom School of Business – Boston University

Founded in 1913, the Boston University School of Management was renamed the Questrom School of Business in 2015 in honor of a $50 million endowment gift from alumnus and retail industry leader Allen Questrom, his wife Kelli and the Allen and Kelli Questrom Foundation.

The school began offering MBA courses in 1925 and today, the school offers eight different programs related to the MBA degree. Along with the traditional full-time MBA, part-time MBA and executive MBA, students can seek out a Health Sector MBA or a Public & Nonprofit MBA, either full or part-time, as well as a one-year International MBA.

Queststrom MBA program features an International Management concentration, which provides students an opportunity to develop their MBA knowledge and skills toward creating value in a global environment. According to Queststrom, students may consider taking this concentration with the MBA+ MA in International Relations joint degree program. In addition, the International Management concentration can be combined with the Health Sector MBA, Public & Nonprofit MBA, or MBA+ MS in Digital innovation programs, or with one of the school’s other concentrations such as finance, marketing or entrepreneurship.
