When it comes to a school’s reputation, alumni are the shining example of success. And this is especially true when considering an MBA program. Where an MBA alum ends up post graduation is one of the best representations of their education and experience. That’s why it’s so impressive that two University of Oxford Säid Business School alumni have made it onto the Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list for 2017: Daniel Drummer and Matt Watters.
Daniel Drummer
Drummer was a 2014 Finance MBA alum out of Säid. After graduation, he became a Fintech expert and co-founded TonalityTech, a company that offers big data and sentiment analysis solutions to the investment industry. He also completed the “Future of Fintech” project for the World Economic Forum and worked for McKinsey & Co. as a management consultant.
Now, Drummer is employed by J.P. Morgan as the Vice President for Fintech Strategy & Partnerships. In this role, he has helped to build the Corporate & Investment Bank’s London-based Fintech team, which has provided him with the unique opportunity of “working at the intersection of emerging technologies, investment banking, and the fast-paced entrepreneurial ecosystem.” According to an interview, Drummer said it is an exciting and demanding job—something that he loves.
As for being listed in Forbes’ 30 Under 30, he had this to say in a press release from Säid:
“To be listed in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 was a genuine surprise for me. I am humbled to be included in such a prestigious list. The MBA at Saïd Business School served as a valuable time to reflect and discover what I enjoy doing most, and it played a critical role in bringing me to where I am today. Most of all, I am thankful for the many good friends, mentors and role models who have helped me along the way.”
Matt Watters
Watters, a ’12 Säid MBA graduate, was the second alum to be named to the list. Watters was included on the list under the Law & Policy section, due to his work at McKinsey & Co. After joining the management consulting firm after graduation, Watters moved up the ranks and now holds the Engagement Manager role, which includes projects with the Government of Sierra Leone enabling $800 million investments into the country.
