First Ever Smith Analytics Conference Coming April 21

The Robert H. Smith School of Business is hosting the first ever Smith Analytics Conference on April 21, 2017. The day-long forum is set to feature speakers from industry, government and academia who will discuss topics such as big data, business intelligence, predictive analytics, key performance indicators, risk analysis and marketing research.At the conference, experts will discuss their experiences and challenges in analytics while attendees learn how to leverage the latest analytics best practices. Confirmed speakers represent a variety of organizations, including Deloitte, Federal Communications Commission (FCC), KPMG, Library of Congress, Maga Design, Merkle, Pandora, TIA and Unilever.

The opening Keynote will be delivered by Tim Davenport, Author and Senior Advisor to Deloitte Analytics. Session I will cover topics in Marketing Analysis and feature speakers David Reilly, Principal Scientist at Pandora, and Wendy Moe, Professor of Marketing at Smith. Session II will cover topics in Predictive Analytics and feature Matt Algar, Logistics Director at Unilever, and Tunay Tunca, Professor of Management Science and Operations Management at Smith. Session III will cover topics in Analytics in Labor and Service Sectors, and feature Brian Murrow, KPMG and Anand Gopal, Associate Professor of Information Systems, as speakers.

Once all of the sessions are complete, a panel discussion on the Strategic Role of Analytics will commence. The discussion will be moderated by David Godes, Professor of Marketing, and feature Brenda Boehm, Chief Strategy Officer & Executive VP, Telecommunications Industry Association; Mark Urbanczyk, Principal of Analytics & Information Management, Deloitte Consulting; Peter Vandre, Senior VP & Digital Analytics Practice Leader, Merkle; Scott Williams, Founder & CEO, Maga Design and Kate Zwaard, Chief of National Digital Initiatives, Library of Congress.

The event is co-hosted by the Smith Analytics Consortium — a partnership between corporations and Smith’s faculty that focuses on experiential learning projects, analytic demonstrations, thought leadership events, executive education, curriculum development, and collaborative research.
