Carey MBA Students Honored at Annual Student Recognition Reception
Each year, the Carey Business School honors stand-out students and organizations at the Annual Carey Student Recognition Reception. The ceremony is headlined by five major individual student awards: Mission in Action Award, Carey Networking Award, Carey Brand Ambassador Award, Carey Community Build Award and Carey Leadership Excellence Award.
The winners, which include three Carey MBA students, were selected from 145 nominations that came from students, faculty and staff. Here’s a look at the winners:
Mission in Action Award: Brad Waters, Global MBA
The Carey Mission in Action Award honors the student who best embodies the fundamental beliefs of Carey’s mission. Waters was honored for his volunteer commitments and leadership initiatives, as well as his contribution to research on the school’s motto “business with humanity in mind” with the OneCarey campaign.
Carey Community Build Award: Alina Predescu, Flexible MBA
The Community Builder Award is presented to the student who makes efforts to enhance the Carey experience for present and future students. Predescu was honored helping create Carey’s first club catered to part-time students called Carey Connect.
Carey Leadership Excellence Award: Gavyn Ooi, Global MBA
The Carey Leadership in Excellence Award is presented to the student who most exemplifies the Carey ideal of leading with integrity. Ooi served as president of Carey’s Student Government Association in Baltimore, where he led several initiatives at the school, including the OneCarey campaign and symposium.
