Executive Program Connects UD Business Students With Leaders

UD Business Students

Thanks to the work of University of Dallas – Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business faculty, students were recently given the chance to connect with Freeman Company CEO Joe Popola and hold a personalized career fair without needing to leave their own classroom.

Laura Munoz, an Associate Professor teaching Marketing Theory & Practice and Value Based Marketing at UD, was able to give her students the networking opportunity of a lifetime when by bringing Popola to the classroom to speak and share business insights with the students.

Popolo is a part of UD’s Executive on Campus Program, which brings business leaders throughout the country to meet with students and share advice that can prepare them for careers in business. Popolo has been the CEO at Freeman—the world’s largest brand experience company—for eight years, helping to expand the company into the global brand it is today.

“As a faculty member, the Executives On Campus program allows me to advance our mission to provide experiential learning and create ethical leaders by bringing experts in their fields to talk about what’s currently going on in their industries,” Professor Munoz said. “We want to encourage companies to come and meet the great pool of talent we have here in the college of business.”

As part of Popolo’s guest lecture, corporate recruiter Sarah Wiegand helped create a personalized job fair, helping students to learn about Freeman and providing informaion about career opportunities with the company. By the end of the event, one student had already accepted a summer position with the organization and many others were in discussion about positions beginning in the fall.
