Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business Online MBA Revealed
The Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business is the latest in an ever-growing list of well-recognized business schools to formally introduce a brand new Online MBA option for business students.
The new Online MBA at Leavey will officially begin next January, 2018. Caryn Beck-Dudley, Dean of the Leavey School of Business, said in a press release, “A Santa Clara MBA has long been a means for many early to mid-career professionals to advance their position, take on leadership roles, or ratchet up their business skills for today’s fast-moving industries.”
“But it’s not always possible to come to our campus twice a week,” she continues. “We are delighted to be offering a fully online, robust MBA option for those students, which blends the university’s mission for social impact with a unique opportunity for a full immersion into the Silicon Valley mentality.”
Students can earn the Leavey Online MBA degree in as little as two years, which features just two on-campus intensive portions. Interested applicants will also have a large window to apply, with opportunities to join in the spring, summer, fall and winter. The program is comprised of 70 total course credits, with 40 credits devoted to core courses, 28 to free electives and two additional credits towards special “Challenges In” electives, which are described below.
“Students are required to take at least one of the courses on the ‘Challenges In’ elective list during their final two quarters of the program. If prerequisites and scheduling allows, students are able to take additional ‘Challenges In’ electives as part of their free electives. These classes are case-style.”
In order to gain advantage in the immensely competitive Silicon Valley job market, the Santa Clara Leavey Online MBA will also feature an exclusive tool for students, called the “Silicon Valley Professional Dashboard” (SVP Dashboard). According to the school, “Each student’s SVP Dashboard tracks a set of skills, practices and mindsets vital for professional success in Silicon Valley.”
Many of the celebrated business schools located in the San Francisco metro area feature partial online MBA offerings, the Leavey School of Business is among the first in the area to offer a full-fledged Online MBA.
Officially, the Leavey School of Business can begin accepting applications but application decisions cannot be made until the Online MBA receives final approval from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
