Emory Goizueta Students Gather on West Coast for the Modular MBA Program
The modular MBA program at the Emory University Goizueta Business School gathered together students, alumni and business leaders across several cities for a week-long immersion experience earlier this summer.
The Modular MBA for Executives (MEMBA) program at Goizueta is broken into a hybrid of 70 percent of a face-to-face learning experience and 30 percent distance learning. Offering students the chance for both flexible, online work along with in-person residencies and immersive experiences, MEMBA is the perfect choice for a executives in a wide variety of industries. This past June, the new West Coast Business Practice Immersion gathered together MEMBA students for a chance at networking and learning in Seattle, San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
Located in one of the country’s largest business and technology centers, the West Coast Business Practice Immersion offered MEMBA students the chance to visit top companies like Starbucks, Fitbit and Amazon, as well as inviting a number of guest speakers and offering opportunities for networking with alumni. The companies represented came from a wide demographic, some dating back to 1975, whereas others launched earlier this decade. Half of the companies had a market cap of more than $100 billion, while two were only in the startup phases. Some of the speakers included figures like Survey Monkey CEO Zander Lurie, an Emory BBA/MBA alumni, and Andy Simpson, Creative Strategist at Facebook.
“From the outside looking in, one might not expect that Goizueta as an east coast business school would have such a deep west coast presence,” said Andrea Hershatter, an Entrepreneurship Professor and Senior Associate Dean of Goizueta’s BBA Program. “However, each one of our visits was supported by alumni, most of whom are senior-level decision makers in their organizations. The end result was a Goizueta-specific immersion that provided access and transparency far beyond traditional company visits.”
