76ers’ JJ Redick Had To Reschedule GMAT to Accommodate Playoff Schedule
When the Philadelphia 76ers season hit its lowest point, guard JJ Redick, a Duke University alum, was apparently planning on earning his MBA.
JJ Redick talked about his plans, which arose in December 2017, on a recent episode of Bleacher Report’s “The Full 48 with Howard Beck” podcast. Two days before Philadelphia faced off against the New York Knicks on Christmas Day, the up-and-coming team fell to a 15-19 record after a late-game loss to the Portland Trailblazers. From there, however, Philadelphia went on a proverbial tear, winning 37 of its last 48 games, en route to the third seed in the NBA Eastern Conference—marking Philadelphia’s first playoff appearance since 2012.
The 33-year-old, currently one a one-year deal with Philadelphia, said on the podcast, “We were really bad in December up until Christmas, I think we lost 10 of 12 games during one stretch. And I signed up to take the GMAT on April 21, which was the first Saturday after the regular season ended. Obviously I had to cancel that because I was in Miami for Game 4.”
Philadelphia advanced to the Eastern Conference semi-finals after defeating the Miami Heat four games to one. The team is currently facing off against its Atlantic Conference rivals, the Boston Celtics, for a chance to move on to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2001. How Redick’s schedule will shape out from here is hard to say, but for Philadelphia’s sake, he probably is hoping to delay it just a bit longer.
