The Fuqua School of Business, the business school of Duke University, has recently released the Fuqua Class of 2023 profile. Located in the Research Triangle of North Carolina, the school has come to be known as a great place for learning, creativity, and industry. It is also one of the top ranked business schools by The Economist, Financial Times, and U.S. News & World Report. Among the school’s many accomplishments, the school is most recently proud of their upcoming full-time MBA class for being the most diverse class in Fuqua’s history.
The Fuqua School has noticed that there are many benefits to having a diverse classroom. First, it helps their students prepare to adapt and embrace those different from themselves. It also fosters behaviors of inclusion, encourages acceptance, and helps students prepare to thrive in the real world.
Secondly, a diverse classroom also allows Fuqua’s students to be curious about other languages, cultures, and traditions. Being in a space where students have different backgrounds, students at the business school are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone, ask questions, and try something new.
Most importantly, a diverse classroom promotes creativity and problem-solving skills. Since students do not have the same background, there is more than one way to look at a situation. Therefore, students get to see more than one solution to the same problem. Being able to see multiple solutions to one problem helps prepare students to run companies more efficiently and be more successful leaders and managers.
