Saïd Business School – University of Oxford
History
The Oxford University Saïd Business School was founded in 1996, but business as a program of study dates back to the 1960’s at Oxford, and the foundation of the School itself began in 1988 with a recommendation for a Management Studies school at Oxford. The first MBA students were admitted in 1996, and in that first year they attended lectures in the Radcliffe Infirmary, a fully functioning hospital in the center of Oxford. The school has since moved to its Park End Street location, which was erected in 2001 after a £23 million donation by Wafic Saïd. In 2013, the Prince of Wales inaugurated the newest wing of the school.
Oxford University itself has been open for nearly 1,000 years. While no exact date exists for the beginning of the institution, it is well-regarded as the oldest English-speaking university and is currently the second-oldest active university in world history.
