Marshall Breaks Ground on New Business Building

USC Marshall School of Business broke ground on Jill and Frank Fertitta Hall, a visionary new building that will transform the experience of its business undergraduates. The groundbreaking occurred September 19, 2014.

The building is scheduled to open by fall 2016. Fertitta Hall will foster collaborative and technology-enabled learning, featuring state-of-the-art classrooms and expanded student areas to boost the production of cutting-edge knowledge and enhance the education of future innovators in business.

USC President C. L. Max Nikias and James G. Ellis, Dean of USC Marshall presided over the ceremony with Frank J. Fertitta ’84 and his wife, Jill. Over 260 Marshall faculty, staff, alumni and students gathered to watch the groundbreaking at the future site of Fertitta Hall.

A leadership gift from the Fertitta family is making the new facility possible and is also establishing the Jill and Frank Fertitta Endowed Chair in business. The Fertitta’s support builds upon an extraordinary legacy of philanthropy in education and beyond.

Frank Fertitta, Marshall alumnus, is chairman and CEO of Las Vegas-based Fertitta Entertainment, a resort and casino development and management company and of Station Casinos, the largest provider of gaming and entertainment to residents of Southern Nevada. It is the only gaming company ever to have been named by Fortune magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.”

The Fertitta’s gift represents significant support for the Campaign for the University of Southern California, a multi-year initiative to raise $6 billion or more in private philanthropy to advance USC’s academic priorities and expand its positive impact on the community and world.
