Leavey Names New Dean of School

Santa Clara University has announced Caryn Beck-Dudley will serve as the next dean of the Leavey School of Business. Beck-Dudley will begin her new position on Aug. 1, 2015. Beck-Dudley currently serves as the dean of the College of Business at Florida State University.

Before her current career at Florida State University, Beck-Dudley served as dean, department head, and professor of management and human resources in the College of Business at Utah State University. She has also taught at the University of Georgia Terry College of Business and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. She has also worked as a corporate and commercial lawyer.

Beck-Dudley is currently serving her second term on the Board of Directors for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. She has chaired the Maintenance of Accreditation Committee, through which, she has reviewed hundreds of business schools for AACSB Accreditation. She has also worked with international universities through the AACSB Special Committee on Strategic Global Accreditation.

Beck-Dudley received her bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in political science. She received her J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law and served on the editorial board for the Idaho Law Review.

I am thrilled to join the faculty, staff, and students at Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business.” said Beck-Dudley. “The Leavey School has a long history of providing principled leaders for the business community.”

Caryn Beck-Dudley will succeed S. Andrew Starbird as dean of the Leavey School of Business, who has been dean for six years.  Dean Starboard will return to the faculty as a professor of operations and management systems.
