Texas Christian Professional MBA Program Structure

The Texas Christian University Professional MBA program at the Neeley School of Business is a cohort structured program that can be completed in as little as 24 months or as many as 33 months. The amount of time it takes to complete the program depends on how students schedule their elective courses. Classes for this program meet twice a week in the evenings.

Curriculum

Texas Christian Professional MBA students complete 28.5 credit hours of core courses together in the cohort and 19.5 credit hours of elective courses, on their own schedule, for a total of 48 credit hours needed to complete the program. The core courses serve as the foundation of knowledge that students will need to advance their business management careers.

The elective courses allow students to tailor their education around their career goals and interests. Students in the Neeley Professional MBA program have the option of pursuing an area of specialization through the selection of their elective courses. Specialization options include finance, marketing, or supply and value chain management. Students can also complete an industry specific emphasis in consulting, real estate, energy, entrepreneurship or healthcare.

Class Profile

The Texas Christian Professional MBA program is designed for mid-level professionals from an array of industries and backgrounds. Students do not have to have a background in business to complete this program but the typical Professional MBA student has 6.2 years of professional work experience.

Thirty-nine percent of students enrolled in the Professional MBA program at Neeley are women. On average, Professional MBA students are 28-years old.

Careers

Texas Christian Professional MBA students have access to the Neeley Professional Development Center and the Graduate Career Service Center (GCSC). The Professional Development Center provides students with the relevant communication tools needed for today’s business environment, personal and professional training and coaching for presentations, and career preparation. The Graduate Career Service Center provides students with résumé help, job search, networking, career coaching, interview prep and skill building programs.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The estimated expenses for one year of the Texas Christian Professional MBA program are $35,880. This estimated cost includes tuition and other program fees. Books and other course materials are estimated at about $1,000.

Texas Christian University offers a limited number of Professional Development Grants (PDG) for part-time graduate students. Unlike student loans, grants do not need to be repaid after completion of the program. The PDG provide one-fourth tuition credit for up to six semester hours each semester. To be eligible for these grants, a student’s income must not exceed $74,145 for independent, single students without dependents, or exceed $92,018 for married or single students with dependents.

Tandy Corporation employees are eligible to be considered for company grants. Qualifying students who demonstrate financial need can receive awards that can cover up to full tuition costs. Students with no financial eligibility can also receive tuition assistance up to a maximum of $5,000 for the year.

Neeley also accepts federal student loans, private loans, outside scholarship grants and military benefits as payment for tuition. The $75 program application fee is waived for active and former military members.

Admissions

To be considered for admission to the TCU Neeley School of Business’s Professional MBA program, applicants must first complete the online application form and complete the application essays. Prospective students must also pay a $100 application fee.

The GMAT is required for all applicants. GRE scores will be accepted, though the school notes that the GMAT is preferred. Applicants must also submit transcripts from all degree granting institutions and provide contact information for three professional recommendations. Applicants must also have at least three years of work experience or military experience.

After a preliminary review of the application, candidates may be selected for an interview. The interview is by invitation only and not all applicants will be invited to interview.
