UD Expands Graduate Business Programs
The University of Dallas’ Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business announced yesterday that it will offer two new Master of Science programs beginning this fall. The school will now offer M.S. degrees in global business and business analytics. Global business and business analytics are also offered as MBA concentrations. UD is accepting applications for these programs for the Fall 2015 term.
Interim Dean Brett J. L. Landry explained the decision to offer new degrees: “With big data projected to be a more than $50 billion industry by 2016 and the incredible growth of Internet connected devices, or the Internet of Things, in the last five years, the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business programs in business analytics and global business will empower business students from around the world to respond to these emerging market needs.”
The U.S. is facing a shortfall of 140,000-190,000 big data experts between now and 2018, according to the consulting firm McKinsey & Co. The master’s degree in business analytics aims to decrease that shortfall by providing a foundation for careers related to big data, predictive analytics, and statistical modeling. Business analytics graduates can pursue careers as business systems analysts, pricing and revenue optimization specialists, and data analysts.
Several U.S. companies plan to increase their international planning and development efforts in the future. UD’s master’s in global business degree is designed to help students learn how to manage in the global environment. Global business graduates can pursue careers as cultural advisors, management analysts, international management consultants, and import/export agents.
Classes will be offered both online and on the UD Campus. To learn more, visit the business analytics homepage or the global business homepage.
