CEO of Legg Mason Named Loyola’s 2015 Business Leader of the Year
Joe Sullivan, the chairman and CEO of Legg Mason, Inc., has been named the 2015 Business Leader of the year by the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola University Maryland. The award honors business executives who exemplify Loyola’s Jesuit values, particularly commitment to community and service through their leadership of their company. Sullivan will be the guest of honor at the Sellinger School of Business and Management’s annual Business Leader of the Year dinner at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore on Thursday, November 19, 2015.
Sullivan has more than 30 years of industry experience. He held executive roles at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Dain Bosworth, and Piper Jaffray, served on the board of directors of Stifel Financial, and served as executive vice president and head of fixed income capital markets for Stifel Nicolaus. He returned to Legg Mason, a global asset management firm that is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, to serve as Head of Global Distribution and Chief Administrative Officer in September 2008. In October 2012, he was appointed the interim Chief Executive Officer of Legg Mason.
“Joe Sullivan continues to grow Legg Mason’s reputation as one of the world’s most revered brands in asset management,” said Brian F. Linnane, the president of Loyola. “A critical component of the company’s success is the tireless dedication to Legg Mason clients, employees, and the Baltimore community that he has helped to inspire. Legg Mason’s strong commitment to integrity serves as a model for our students in the Sellinger School, and exemplifies the commitment to service we profoundly admire as a Jesuit institution.”
