Carroll School of Management – Boston College

History

The Carroll School of Management is Boston College’s graduate and undergraduate business school. The undergraduate business school was founded in 1938, and the graduate business school opened its doors in 1957. Both schools were renamed in 1989 in honor of Wallace E. Carroll, a 1928 alumnus of Boston College, following his generous donation of $10 million. In addition to an undergraduate Bachelor of Science program and its MBA offerings, the Carroll School awards Master of Science degrees in accounting and finance and supports two doctoral programs. The Carroll School is fully accredited in business education by AACSB International.

Boston College is located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, just six miles from downtown Boston. The Carroll School is on the “Middle Campus,” which is the oldest part of the college and where most of the academic buildings are clustered.

Access to the Logan Airport in Boston only takes around 20 minutes and is easy to traverse with multiple public transportation options.

Facilities

The Carroll School calls Fulton Hall home. Constructed in 1947 and located at the center of the BC campus, Fulton Hall was built specifically to house the College’s growing undergraduate business program. The building underwent renovations in the 1990s and today boasts a five-story atrium, wireless internet access, three computer labs—one of which is reserved for graduate students only—a small café, and a graduate student lounge complete with club meeting space, laptop docks, and a seating area.

Faculty

More than 130 teachers, researchers and scholars support the Carroll School’s seven academic departments: Accounting, Business Law & Society, Finance, Information Systems, Management and Organization, Marketing, and Operations Management. Faculty members also contribute their research to Carroll’s six centers focusing on topics ranging from asset management to work and family.

Student Body

Each year, the Boston College – Carroll School of Management full-time MBA program welcomes roughly 80-100 new students to campus, meaning that at any given time there are approximately 200 students enrolled full-time. The part-time MBA program has yearly intakes of about 75-100 students.

MBA Degree Offerings

The Carroll School offers a full-time MBA program as well as a part-time MBA program. Students must complete 25 courses and 20 hours of community service to obtain their degree.
