Gupta College Celebrates Opening of New SB Hall

Dallas silicon prairie

SB Hall, the new home of the University of Dallas – Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business officially opened its doors on January 15th, 2016, making history as part of the largest donation the university has ever received.

The newly established SB Hall is the product of a $12 million donation from the Guptas — the University’s namesakes. “The University of Dallas welcomed us with open arms and gave us a strong foundation to succeed. It was like walking into our own global village right here in Irving, and I learned so much from that global village,” said Yasmin Gupta.

Both Guptas were involved in the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, January 15th, joined by President Thomas Keefe. “This was built on time and under budget and without one change order. It’s a symbol of our effort to create global leaders,” Keefe said. A champagne reception followed the ribbon cutting in the hall’s lobby.

The new building is 45,000-square-feet and three stories high. Its placement on an elevated part of Dallas County was purposeful (highest point on campus), allowing for sweeping views of the area. According to the Dallas Morning News, every room in SB Hall has a view — the best one can be found in Dean Brett Landry’s office.

“I came here at age 20 from 10,000 miles away with a thick Indian accent,” said Satish Gupta. “but I had passion, confidence and faith…If I can make it as an average student, anyone can.”
