University of Delaware MBA Program Structure

The University of Delaware Lerner MBA program can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis and has three intakes. Students may elect to start classes during the fall semester beginning in August, the spring semester beginning in February, or in the summer, beginning in June. Students may also achieve their degree online in a little as 16 months or opt for a hybrid online/in-person format.
Part-time and full-time MBA students take classes together, which typically meet Monday through Thursday from 6 to 8:45 p.m.

Curriculum

Students in the University of Delaware MBA program are required to complete 44 credits, including nine mandatory core courses, two Professional Development Seminars, and electives, which vary in number according to the structure of the program the student chooses. Those pursuing only a general MBA must take 15 credits worth of electives, while those looking for a concentration or dual concentration will be offered a mix of given and self-selected electives. Students may choose a major (5 options available) or concentration (12 options available) should they choose to focus on a particular area of study throughout the program.

Tuition, Scholarships, and Financial Aid

The Delaware Lerner MBA for Full-time or part-time tuition is $850 per credit for in-state students, $950 per credit for out-of-state students, and $950 per credit for online students. For the 44 credits required to earn a degree, therefore, tuition costs $41,800 for out-of-state residents and online students, and $37,400 for Delaware residents. Online MBA costs $900 per credit and is $39,600 in total.

There is a health fee of $227 and a center fee of $119 for all students, while part-time students pay an additional registration fee of $30 and international students have a separate fee of $160. All fees are per semester.

In addition, both out-of-state and in-state full-time applicants are automatically considered for Graduate Assistantships, which provide opportunities for students to assist faculty members with research and other duties. In exchange, grad assistants earn half or all of their tuition costs, as well as stipends of $4,500 per semester. The school also offers Corporate Associates Program internships for outstanding full-time MBA students, and these interns earn 50 percent tuition and a $9,000 stipend by working 20 hours a week with one of the college’s corporate sponsors over the course of their MBA studies. Finally, MBA applicants may be considered for University Graduate Scholars Program scholarships, provided by the UD Office of Graduate and Professional Studies, which are awarded based on a range of factors that include challenging life circumstances, academic achievement, status as a first-generation graduate student, and financial need.

Admissions for the Delaware Lerner MBA 

University of Delaware MBA applicants must hold either a four-year bachelor’s degree (with a GPA, typically, of at least 2.8) or an equivalent three-year degree from an international program. If the latter, you’ll need to contact the admissions office to confirm that your undergrad degree qualifies you for the program. GMAT scores are required except for those applicants who hold higher degrees, including MDs, JDs, and Ph. Ds. These applicants and candidates with four or more years of professional experience may obtain a GMAT waiver by filling out a GMAT waiver form. GRE, LSAT, and MCAT scores may also be considered in place of the GMAT. International applicants must submit their TOEFL or IELTS scores submit proof that they obtained an undergraduate degree in the U.S. or another country in which English is the primary language. Lerner maintains no minimum cutoff for either the TOEFL or IELTS but notes that international applicants typically score at least a 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL or a 7.5 on the IELTS exam.

Applicants to the University of Delaware MBA programs must submit unofficial transcripts from any previous institutions of higher education attended, a résumé, standardized testing scores if applicable, two essays, and an application fee of $75. Applicants can request to have this fee waived if they have proof that they scored above a 600 on the GMAT or 310-plus on the GRE. If applicants receive proof of their 600+ score after sending their application they will receive a $75 credit toward the first semester’s tuition. Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation, the forms for which are emailed directly from Lerner’s online application to the recommenders. Applications are accepted at any time until a week before classes begin. You may begin in the fall, summer or spring semester. Applicants are considered for admission on a rolling basis.

Full-time program applicants interested in merit-based funding consideration should apply early as those awards are distributed on a rolling basis typically at or close to the time of admission.
