UTA Graduate Programs Rise in National Rankings

The University of Texas at Arlington – College of Business has recently risen in national rankings, with over 20 graduate-level programs ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report this year.

The latest ranking from U.S. News & World Report featured 100 graduate programs in seven colleges and schools at UTA, including engineering, planning and public affairs, science, architecture, social work and nursing. Three of these programs ranked as top fifty in the country: graduate programs at the College of Education (No. 30), the School of Social Work (No. 38, up six slots from 2012), and the College of Engineering (no. 39, up four slots from last year).

Several additional programs improved from last year’s ranking, such as the College of Business, whose Part-Time MBA program ranked as #82 in the nation.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who attended UTA for a time before completing his degree at UT Austin, commented on the impact of the school’s high ranking for the state. “Texas is leading the way in research and innovation, and UTA’s recent rankings are further proof that the Lone Star State is becoming a hub for the greatest minds in higher education,” he said.

These high rankings are a great honor for the school, considering the prestige and value attributed to the U.S. News graduate rankings each year. According to UTA President Vistasp M. Karbhari, the rankings represent the quality of faculty, talent of students, and value of each program at UTA.

The rankings are created according to reputation surveys given to over 18,400 academics and professionals throughout last year, assessing more than 1,900 programs utilizing metrics such as student/faculty ratios, job placement success and placement test scores.
