Seattle Ranked as Top City in the US for Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Seattle ranks as one of the top urban areas in the U.S. for entrepreneurship and innovation. According to a recent report published by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Seattle ranked #11 in the country, behind the Bay Area, Denver, Raleigh-Durham, and Philadelphia.
The report examined and ranked 25 cities to determine which cities were most ready to capitalize on the inevitable shift to the digital economy. The report looked at statistics such as the number of startups, the quality of life, educated millennials, domestic population growth, and health.
Seattle has always been considered a city for smart business. According to the report, Seattle has an active startup scene. In fact, the city is home to 852 startups, ranking it at #5 in the country. On top of that, the city is home to a high percentage of educated millennials. 6.1% of Seattle’s total population between the ages of 25-34 holds a degree.
The truth is that Seattle’s tech sector is booming. The city is home base for such tech titans as Amazon and Microsoft, and 29% of Seattle’s incoming residents have tech skills. Even better, Seattle’s startups are booming across all industry sectors including education, energy, health, and smart cities. Much of this booming success is thanks to Seattle’s universities.
MBA candidates looking to enter Seattle’s exciting and booming economy have three distinguished and impressive universities to choose from. Each school offers a dynamic MBA education. However, at the top of the list is the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.
