Schulich’s Career Center Prepares MBA Grads for Life After Graduation

The Schulich School of Business at York University is hosting a variety of events dedicated to helping PhDs and MBAs get a job after graduation. The events, hosted by the Career Center, cover everything from skill transfer, to resume creation, and finding a job on LinkedIn.

The first event takes place on May 26 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. It’s titled, “Transferring Skills from Academe to the Workplace.” The workshop was created specifically for Ph.D. and Masters graduates who are concerned about transferring their academic skills to a career in business. Held at 103 McLaughlin College, it will teach you how the skills you’ve developed in your degree provide an excellent foundation for the future.

The second event takes place later in the day on May 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. The event titled, “Translating a CV to a Resume” is another workshop just for Ph.D. and Masters students. The workshop will help you understand the difference between a CV and a resume and how you can use each for different situations. The class will also teach you how to translate your academic CV into a career outside of academia.

The final event held on June 23 from 12:00 to 1:00 is all about using LinkedIn effectively. Held entirely online, participants will learn strategies for creating a strong online identity, building a professional network, and leveraging LinkedIn’s features. The webinar titled, “How to Find a Job Using LinkedIn” is perfect for any MBA seeking support in their job search.

The Career Center at York University is a one-stop resource for everything job related. MBAs can attend workshops, make appointments with counselors, join information sessions, and search for job postings or internships. It’s the perfect resource for recent graduates or first year MBAs looking for a summer internship.
