#BauerFamily Gathers Together for Annual Alumni Event
The University of Houston – C.T. Bauer College of Business gathered its “#BauerFamily” together last week for the annual meeting of the Bauer College Alumni Association, celebrating the impact of the college and the people within it.
Patrick Gonzales (MBA ‘06) served as this year’s president of the BCAA. “I tell people I was born in Texas, but my soul came alive when I came to Bauer,” he told hundreds of alumni who attended the meeting. “I stepped on this campus 12 years ago, and it’s changed my life.”
Gonzales also discussed some of the positive steps forward that the alumni association hopes to make in the next year, such as adding new members to its committees and leadership board, and increasing membership by 20 percent.
Bauer Dean Latha Ramchand also spoke at the event, thanking board members and the Bauer community for their continuing support. Furthermore, she thanked the alumni association for helping to cultivate a culture of giving among current students.
“There is now a culture at Bauer where students are giving back,” Ramchand said. “The graduating class of the Wolff center for Entrepreneurship this year, as they did last year, gave the college a class gift of $140,000 to support student scholarships for the next class. That’s why we say, at Bauer awesome continues to happen.”
Mike Pede, UH Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations, shared news about new initiatives and growth within the University of Houston Alumni Association. The annual meeting concluded with a raffle of items from sponsors and a networking reception for alumni held in Melcher Hall.
